SELL SURPLUS ELECTRICAL WIRE ANYWHERE IN MARYLAND

Maryland packs four different construction economies into one state: the Beltway suburbs, the Baltimore industrial corridor, the western manufacturing towns and the Eastern Shore. Each produces surplus wire in its own form.

Assorted cable reels and wooden pallets on a warehouse floor

Warehouse overstock is the most common source of large-reel surplus across Maryland.

We buy surplus electrical wire and cable from businesses throughout the state of Maryland — from National Harbor to Hagerstown, from Baltimore to Salisbury. Contractors, distributors, manufacturers, utilities, hospitals, universities, data centers and demolition contractors all hold material that was bought for a job and did not get installed.

Wire and cable only. We do not buy transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, bus plugs, generators, chillers, machinery or vehicles, and we do not pretend to be a general surplus dealer. If it is conductor, insulation and jacket, send it. If it is a box with a breaker in it, it is not our line.

Four Maryland wire markets

The state does not behave like one market. Where your material sits changes what it is likely to be and how it should be handled.

The Capital region

Montgomery and Prince George’s counties run on institutional and office construction: biotech fit-outs along the I-270 corridor, hospital work in Bethesda and Largo, federal-adjacent commercial projects, and continuous multifamily building around transit stations. Surplus here is heavy in building wire, MC cable, low-voltage and fire-alarm cable, with feeder and service cable on larger sites.

Central Maryland

Baltimore City and Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard and Carroll counties mix rowhouse service work with port, warehouse and plant maintenance. This is where tray cable, control cable, welding cable, URD and medium-voltage reels are most common, alongside a steady flow of discontinued distributor stock.

Western Maryland

Frederick, Washington and Allegany counties are manufacturing and logistics territory along I-70, I-81 and US-15. Plant reconfigurations, line changes and maintenance crib clearances release motor lead, VFD cable, control and feeder material that was bought for a project that was shelved.

Southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore

Charles, St. Mary’s, Calvert, Wicomico, Talbot, Dorchester and Worcester counties are smaller markets with longer travel distances. Work is rural, waterfront, institutional or defence-related, and lots tend to be compact: a few reels from a school project, a service upgrade on a marina, a plant maintenance clear at a food-processing facility.

What we look for before quoting

Maryland is close enough to major scrap and resale markets that price expectations vary widely. We quote on what the material can actually do, not on a headline copper number, so these details matter:

  • Construction and voltage rating legible on the jacket or tag
  • Size and conductor count, including ground
  • Remaining footage — measured, tagged or estimated honestly
  • Condition: new surplus, unused, partial reel, used or unknown
  • Packaging: reel, spool, coil, carton or loose
  • Storage history — indoors, container, tarp or open yard

Mixed lots are welcome. A closed contractor shop might have nine reels of building wire, two partials of MC, a coil of bare copper and a pallet of service cable. We will review the lot as a whole and tell you which pieces we want and which we do not.

Distance is a real cost in Maryland

A lot in Silver Spring and the same lot in Salisbury are not the same job. Travel distance, bridge crossings and whether a trailer can turn around at the far end all affect what we can offer. Tell us the county and ZIP first — it sometimes changes the answer before we ever discuss footage.

Pickup and shipping across the state

For larger lots we arrange collection. The I-95 corridor from Baltimore through Howard and Prince George’s is straightforward for a flatbed or box truck. Western Maryland adds I-70 and I-81 mileage. Southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore require planning around the Bay Bridge and, on the Shore, longer runs on US-50 and US-13.

For smaller quantities — a few partial reels, a single carton of control cable — shipping is often more sensible than a dedicated truck. We will say which route makes sense once we know the weight and the access.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • Do you buy surplus wire anywhere in Maryland?

Yes — the whole state, including Western Maryland and the Eastern Shore. Travel distance affects what we can offer on smaller lots, so include the county and ZIP with your photos.

  • Do you buy from Maryland electrical distributors?

Yes. Slow-moving stock, discontinued colours and constructions, damaged-label reels and customer returns that cannot be sold as new are all reviewed. We understand that distributor stock often has to be documented for inventory purposes.

  • Can you handle a cancelled-project order that is still on the original pallets?

That is one of the cleaner situations we see. Sealed, matched reels with original tags are straightforward to review and usually easier to place than opened stock. Send the packing list and a photo of the pallet tags if you have them.

  • Do you buy wire from Maryland utilities and co-ops?

We review utility surplus where the material is legitimately released, including URD, USE-2, service cable and medium-voltage reels. Utility procurement and disposal rules vary, so tell us what documentation is required before we quote.

  • What does not qualify?

Transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery, vehicles and general plant equipment are outside what we buy. We also decline wet, contaminated or unidentified cable that cannot be safely assessed.
